THE FORUM THREAD MAY BE MORE UP-TO-DATE SO IF THIS ISN'T WORKING GO THERE FIRST.
I think this one is not necessary. People searching for the specific information not other link again and again and again.
Anyway the information provided by wiki won't change too soon, and It should be our duty to update the wiki.
IT IS NECESSARY. I'm getting tired of people coming running to me when my repo doesn't work because they followed someone else's instructions that were not updated. I only update the forum thread, it's too time-consuming to try to keep more than that up-to-date. So, a link to my thread MUST be prominent to help avoid this issue. - Aren Olson (aka. reacocard)
Well, I take that responsability of updating the wiki, the point is that we all don't want the wiki to me too messy, so maybe we should avoid putting links for how-tos on other sites since the main purpose of the wiki of a project is to provide the more important things about a project (Installation, development, etc).
As I said, it isn't the kind of information that will be changed everytime, anyway a link for your how-to is provided to help in other things and because the things we did not talk in the wiki, and the things that probably will change. But the basics of it won't change and that's what I wanted to put in the wiki.
The main point is that people shouldn't look in a lot of places to find common questions and do common tasks about awn.... Like a simple installation, applets, etc. Right now, wiki is the only thing we have and it isn't even completed. Before, if people wanted information they were going to the forum and asking repeated question again, and again. And this questions could be answered through the wiki, avoid new repeated questions in forum.
It's more difficult to someone if they will have to find information about awn in ubuntuforums, wiki and forum and maybe another sites, my opinion is that at least the most common tasks should be cleary said in wiki.
By the way, I have subscribed to your thread in ubuntuforums, so every time some one post something there I will receive an e-mail notification.
But maybe this is a decision that could come with a poll.
Don't get me wrong, you are the repo maintainer is just an opinion. And I am looking for the best for awn users.
Didn't know if you noticed but everytime you changed this topic, I tried to change it again but make also trying to make you happy because every new modification I tried to make something a little different so you could agree with one of my trys.
The main thing I didn't like is this sentence bold and in high caps: THE FORUM THREAD MAY BE MORE UP-TO-DATE SO IF THIS ISN'T WORKING GO THERE FIRST.
It seems to me like we are screaming to the user. So I tried to make it more smooth.
I like the way you have it now, it gives plenty of notice about the thread without being as IN YOUR FACE as mine was. :) I appreciate your taking on this task, a large part of my concern here was simply that wiki pages like this tend to be created once and then never updated again until something goes horribly wrong, but if you are going to keep this page updated that problem is removed. Thanks again! - reacocard
[edit] Key not availible
When updating the sources.list in Xubuntu Gutsy (7.10) it says it could not download the information because the key was not availible.
Are you sure you used gusty repo?
