Talk:Awn Extras
From AWN Wiki
formating on this page stinks at the moment, shouldt have installation instructions side by side..... ~searayman
tried to install, but I have a problem with : cd awn-extras/awn-applets/awn-core-applets no awn-extras directory. I have a trunk directory so I made :cd trunk/awn-applets/awn-core-applets don t know if it is the right step
Wouldn't it be better to have
bzr co http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~awn-extras/awn-extras/trunk awn-extras
instead of
bzr branch http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~awn-extras/awn-extras/trunk awn-extras
If you used "branch" instead of "check out," "bzr up" will not work to update you source folder.--Andrewsomething 22:51, 28 October 2007 (PDT)
I added python-alsaaudio to the debian-based requirements (necessary for volume applet), but I don't know enough about other distros to understand if it should go there. Anyone know? ~catterly
Do you know if python-alsaaudio is really need for compiling... It's because since I remember it isn't, so it's not a awn-extras dependency, but a applet from awn-extra dependencie. I know it doesn't make sense, but reocard himself told me that. It's something about only this specific applet (volume manager) needing it, and people didn't want to add more dependency. So according to him, python-alsaaudio (and other like libgmail) should be putted at the applets, but not as an awn-extras dependency, if when you are compiling awn-extras, it doesn't require python-alsaaudio. (I don't know if this changed).
My idea is to maintain these ones (to avoid problems with people not seem the icons, etc) but with the label Additional dependencies, explaining what they are for.
Also, I think I will try to put a star or something in applets list that requires this kind of dependency to warn users not making this mistake.
What you think? Do you know if awn-extras now when compiling requires python-alsaaudio?

The Applet List should be updated. There are some missing applets or the name has been changed.
