[edit] Introduction

A plugin for use with Pidgin to make AWN change the application icon into current status (away, available, etc...), and displays the number of unread messages.

[edit] Downloading and installing

    • If you're running Ubuntu, you may want to install it via reacocard's repository.
    • Otherwise, download the plugin here (If necessary, download the 64-bit version here), and unpack pidgin_awn.so file into $HOME/.purple/plugins (if folder doesn't exist, create it)
  2. Add a Pidgin launcher to the bar.
  3. Turn on the plugin in Pidgin (open buddy list, go-to Tools->Plugins and check off AWN Plugin)

NOTE: The Link for the 64-bit version of the plugin has been changed to a forum post at ubuntuforums.org. The old link linked to the 32-bit vesion of the plugin that will not work on 64-bit machines. Enjoy (GumbyX from Ubuntuforums.org)
